The Phipps Institute (a.k.a. Phipps Hall) is a fine, old hall which celebrated its centenary in 2003. The benefactor Henry Phipps, an successful American entrepreneur, spent time at Beaufort Castle nearby. The main hall, with proscenium arch stage and vaulted ceiling seats 196. The upstairs Ceilidh Room, which has excellent acoustics, seats 80. There is also a committee room, a public library and senior citizen’s club room. Open for performances throughout the year. Stage curtains, sound and lighting system. Hall is open every day 09.00-midnight. Library is open Monday, 17.00-20.00hrs, Tuesday 10.00-12.00hrs, Thursday 14.00-17.00hrs, Saturday 10.00-12.00hrs. All bookings and enquiries should be made direct to Samantha Hercher in the Library, either in person, by post to the Hall or by phone/fax or by email.
